Put Your Best Face Forward with Makeup
Look Younger - Beauty & StyleDo you recall how much you just loved painting when you were a little girl? Well, lucky us, we women still get to experiment with paints, only now we call it makeup!
Believe it or not, the first step in getting closer to perfect makeup look is… skin care! That’s right – when you take ideal care of your skin, you give yourself the start of a beautifully made-up face. That means setting up a daily skin care routine based on three words: clean, tone and moisturize, in that order.
Once you determine your skin type, you can select the group of skin care products that are most ideal for you. Typical facial cleansers, astringents and lotions work well with normal skin. A Dry skin needs a regimen with products that are rich in moisturizing emollients to improve and maintain moisture. Oily skin requires water-based skin care products that won’t add more moisture. People with combination skin types, which is oily in some areas, dry in others – should cleanse with traditional products, but should take care to apply astringent and lotion to the dry or acne-prone areas.
No matter what your skin type, makeup starts with a good base makeup that hides those little imperfections without looking “made up.” In order to get flawless-looking skin, pick out a foundation type that corresponds to your skin type, such as dry, oil, normal or combination. There are also base foundation types for women who have allergies and those with acne or other skin troubles. Once again, it’s essential to take great care of your skin under your cosmetics.
A great base foundation is a must, no matter what the type of skin. The most suitable foundation is one that will mask flaws and lighten skin without a dark, cakey look. Women with dry skin look the best with a creamy base makeup that will add extra moisture. Ladies with oily skin types look best in water-based liquid foundations. Those with normal or combination skin have the benefit of playing around with different products to find out what kind of foundation works best.
After you’ve chosen your base foundation, the real fun begins. So many makeup colors, and only one face! The answer to this problem is to play around with a bunch of different looks. Some girls like to create a unique look based on the stronger shades in their wardrobe. Others like to experiment as styles change from season to season.
The true fun of cosmetics begin once you’ve picked out your foundation product. Now is the opportunity to experiment with many different looks for daytime, night time and special events. The first step is to consider the combination of your skin tone and hair color together. For example, women with blonde hair, lighter-colored eyes and fair skin will look beautiful in neutrals and pastels. Girls with light skin and dark eyes and hair can wear bolder makeup with more contrast. Women whose skin and eyes are deep often look amazing in deep colors contrasted with silvery or metallic highlights.
Beauty consultants oftentimes argue the best way to choose makeup is to coordinate with your hair and skin. For instance, girls with light skin and dark hair, or darker toned skin with darker hair, each can look just beautiful in dramatic makeup of deeper tones with high contrast. On the other hand, girls with light skin and fair-colored hair and eyes look better in pastel colors, while women with yellowish or olive skin need makeup that will balance out the yellowish tones in their skin. Likewise, certain “correction” makeup will help hide flaws. Green will cancel out too much reddish tone in the skin, while yellow can camouflage purplish under-eye circles and other blemishes.
Because of these various requirements, it’s always good to have a family member or makeup pro help you figure out your makeup look. A helpful eye can help you create that best of all work of art – the most gorgeous you!
