The cowboys of America liked them while riding their horses and starting some where around the late 1800’s it was used by military forces of various countries. By the 1960’s the attitude changed towards leggings from just another piece of clothing to something that was fashionable.
Those first fashionable leggings of the 60’s were similar to the older Capri and it clung to the body just like any other type of legging material. Those were cotton- Lycra based and did not have the sheen of modern nylon leggings. Of course 80’s changed all that.
By then new fabrics such as nylon and spandex arrived and they continued to be popular right up into the mid 1990’s. Now suddenly within the past couple of years they are back in fashion and the number of different styles not to mention sizes is amazing.
