Dark Nail Polish – Should You Wear It?

Look Younger - Beauty & Style

Dark nail polish is one of those fashions statements which some have taken to while others haven’t. As winter approaches, more people will begin using the darker shades of fingernail polish to cover up their nails, since it will more easily match their wardrobe.

While wearing dark nail polish does have its drawbacks, such as leaving a yellow stain on the nails, lots of people find it the perfect fall and winter wardrobe accessory. It all began in Ancient China as an essential fashion component that denoted royalty and now continues lives through present day culture as an accessory for the chic and fashionable members of our society.

While it is best to save the black polish for Halloween, other darker shades in brown, deep red and purple will be a popular choice for the winter. Though favorite colors will vary with the times, they are all much more fun than a simple coat of black nail polish would be.

Even though mistakes during applications are more noticeable due to its darker shade, dark nail polish is very simple to apply. However, you will need to apply it daily since it chips faster and easier thus making it noticeable to anyone looking at your hands.

You might consider purchasing a shade that you like and taking it with you to the nail salon to have a professional apply it. No one who is at all fashion conscious should be seen in chipped nail polish of any color or shade.

Get a satisfactory base coat and top that off with another quality coat as you apply this dark nail polish; dark nail polish colors can often react with your real fingernail, and when you remove the polish, and ugly yellow color remains stained on the nail itself, so be sure to avoid this as much as possible.

You would do well to have a professional polish your nails if you’re wanting to attempt a darker nail polish color, but you aren’t confident enough in your application skills. All it takes is $10 at the nearest nail salon, and you’ll be set to go.
