Apart from the look, they served the cowboys in their day to day lives as they protected them from the many cuts and bruises that they would otherwise have encountered during the course of a day. Leggings have been fossilized in many places in Russia and Siberia where people have continued to use them to this day, just as their ancestors and those before them did.
While a designer will be interested in the latest trends, a historian will, curiously enough be interested in the trends that defined how people dressed in various civilizations for nothing reveals their way of life and the travails that they face more than what they wore.
